Dedicated July 12th 2004
Chapter
Leaders, Rosemary and Connie shared with the group their dream of
having a living, beautiful memorial to all our children - a quiet
haven, where parents/relatives/friends can come to reflect and
remember their children. The Oak Creek Community Center was
approached about donating a spot for our garden and graciously
gave us the most perfect place, a place where we could build our
garden and a wall where our children's names could be inscribed.
In 2002 a
committee was formed, and after a lot of hard work, fund raising
and individual contributions, our wonderful dream came true on
July 12, 2004. At this time
we have 185 children’s names etched in the black granite panels
surrounding the garden. There is still plenty of space on the all
for those who would like to add the name of their child. Once a
year, in July, additional names are added to the wall until it is
full. If you wish to
have your child's name on the wall, please contact Rosemary
Albrecht, 414-764-5668.
The Children's Memorial
Garden serves as a wonderful gathering place for memorial
observances, candle lightings, balloon launches, dove or butterfly
releases, and other public ceremonies.
